Biography
Yuping Fan is a Ph.D. student working with Zhiling Lan at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) co-advised by William Allcock and Paul Rich at Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF). I received BS in Electrical Engineering from Southwest University of Science and Technology in 2012 and MS in Electrical Engineering from IIT in 2015. My current research interests are in the field of parallel and distributed systems, with particular focuses on job scheduling, resource management, performance analysis on HPC and distributed systems. Specifically, my research focuses on optimizing the performance of job scheduler and resource manager on HPC and distributed systems with the aim that makes them keep up with the current dramatic changes in HPC environments and diverse applications. I am a contributor to several open-source job scheduling and resource management tools, including Cobalt for scheduling HPC jobs at ALCF and CQSim for simulating job scheduling on HPC and clusters.
