Mark Gates
Biography
Mark Gates is a Research Scientist at the Innovative Computing Laboratory at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where his research focuses on high-performance linear algebra. He has contributed to the MAGMA library for GPU-accelerated linear algebra, the PLASMA library for task-based linear algebra, the LAPACK and ScaLAPACK libraries, and is actively developing the SLATE library for distributed, accelerated linear algebra. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he worked on scientific computing applications in mechanical engineering. He previously worked at NCSA on high-performance wide-area network applications and at LLNL on sparse iterative solvers and ODE integrators.
