Presenter
Franck Cappello
Biography
Franck is senior computer scientist at Argonne. He led several projects in the past on parallel computer architectures, parallel programming approaches (MPI+OpenMP), distributed computing for scientific applications, fault tolerance for HPC and scientific data compression. Franck is also the director of the Joint Laboratory on Extreme Scale Computing gathering six prestigious HPC institutions: Argonne-Inria-UIUC-Julich Supercomputing Center-Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Riken/AICS. He is currently starting an effort at Argonne on FPGA for scientific simulation and data analytics, in the perspective of the post Moore era. He co-organized two workshops (invitations only) on this topic gathering top experts of this domain. He co-authored 200 publications. Franck is fellow of the IEEE and the recipient of the 2018 IEEE TCPP award of outstanding service, the highest recognition of the IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel Processing.
