Liudmila S. Mainzer
Biography
Liudmila Mainzer is a Technical Program Manager at NCSA, the leader of the NCSA Genomics group, and a Research Assistant Professor at the Institute for Genomic Biology. As a research scientist at the University of Illinois for almost 13 years, Dr. Mainzer has applied her expertise in computational biology to a wide variety of scientific problems, from intracellular signaling pathways to evolution, gene expression patterns and genomic variant detection. In recent years her focus has been on high throughput big-data analyses in genomics. The Genomics Group at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications is a collaborative environment employing research programmers, graduate students, undergraduates, high school students, a post-doc and a project manager. The team members share their diverse and complementary areas of expertise in genomics, math, hardware programming, bioinformatics, statistics, software engineering and data analytics. Our primary mission is to engage in software development and performance optimization projects with academic collaborators and private Industry partners in the area of genomic medicine, pharmaceuticals and digital agriculture.
