Biography
Vassil Alexandrov is the Chief Science Officer of Hartree Centre, Science and Technology Facilities Council, UK (2019). He holds: MSc degree in Applied Mathematics from Moscow State University, Russia (1984), a PhD degree in Mathematics from Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1995). He has held previous positions as: ICREA Research Professor in Computational Science (February 2019) at Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, Spain; University of Reading, UK as a Professor of Computational Science and the Director of the Centre for Advanced Computing and Emerging Technologies (July 2010). His research interests are in the area of Computational Science, High Performance Computing, Extreme Scale Computing, Scalable Algorithms and Monte Carlo methods and algorithms. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Computational Science and Editor of Mathematics and Computers in Simulation. He has published over 130 papers in renowned refereed journals and international conferences in the area of his research expertise.
