Biography
Nicholas Schwarz is a Computer Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). He received MS and BS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007 and 2003, respectively. At ANL, Nicholas leads the scientific software and data management effort at the Advanced Photon Source x-ray synchrotron user facility. His research interests focus on applying state-of-the-art computational techniques and infrastructure to solve scientific domain problems. At the Advanced Photon Source, Nicholas led the development of a facility-wide data management system. He co-authored the common data policy adopted by US-based x-ray synchrotron and x-ray free electron laser facilities. Previously, he served as the chair of the International Organizing Committee for the NOBUGS conference series. Currently, he chairs a working group consisting of representative from the US-based light source user facilities aimed at fostering collaborations and solving pressing issues in the area of data analysis and management.
