Ali R. Butt is a professor in Computer Science at Virginia Tech. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2006. Ali's research interests are in distributed computing systems, cloud computing, edge computing, file and storage systems, Internet of Things, I/O systems, and operating systems. At Virginia Tech he leads the Distributed Systems & Storage Laboratory (DSSL).
