Biography
Joe Mambretti is Director of the International Center for Advanced Internet Research (iCAIR) at Northwestern University. iCAIR, created in partnership with a number of major corporations, designs and implements large-scale services and infrastructure for data-intensive applications. He is also Director of the Metropolitan Research and Education Network (MREN), an advanced high-performance network connecting institutions in seven upper-Midwest states. He is Director of the StarLight International/National Communications Exchange Facility, a global exchange for high-performance networks. With its research partners, iCAIR has established many national and international network research testbeds. He is PI for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) International Software Defined Networking Exchange, PI for the NSF GENI Software Defined Networking Exchange, co-PI of the Chameleon NSFCloud testbed, PI for NSF’s International Global Environment for Network Innovations (iGENI), PI for StarWave, and PI for research projects creating 100Gbps services, network testbeds and facilities.
