Biography
Paul Kent is a distinguished research and development staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division and Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences. He earned his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1999. His main research focus is in the computational materials sciences and the efficient execution of these calculations on high performance computers. Currently he directs the Center for Predictive Simulation of Functional Materials and an Exascale Computing Project applications development project for Quantum Monte Carlo methods at Exascale. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and won the ACM Gordon Bell Prize in 2008.
