Maurice Schmidtler is senior director and lead scientist at the cybersecurity business Webroot, a Carbonite company. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Karslruhe, Germany. Afterward, Maurice continued his research in Elementary Particle Physics at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. After leaving academia in 2000, Schmidtler joined Mohomine, a startup specializing in automated text classification and information extraction. In 2010, he joined Webroot to focus on the innovative use of data in cybersecurity. Today, he leads a team of data scientists that combine Machine Learning with cybersecurity to solve industry problems.
