Biography
Katherine Yelick is a Professor of EECS at UC Berkeley and the Associate Laboratory Director for Computing Sciences at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She is known for her research in parallel languages, compilers, algorithms, libraries, and science applications. She earned her PhD in EECS from MIT and has been on the faculty at UC Berkeley since 1991 with a joint research appointment at Berkeley Lab since 1996. She was the director of NERSC from 2008 to 2012 and in her current role oversees NERSC, ESnet, and the Computational Research Division. She has served on the Computing Community Consortium (CCC), the National Academies Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB), and the California Council on Science and Technology. She is an ACM Fellow, AAAS Fellow, and recipient of the ACM-W Athena and ACM/IEEE Ken Kennedy awards. She is a member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences and National Academy of Engineering.
