Biography
Kevin J. Barker is the High-Performance Computing Group lead at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has worked in the Dept. of Energy National Laboratory complex for fourteen years, primarily developing performance and power modeling techniques and exploring their application to current and future large-scale system design and analysis. Kevin is the lead of a number of projects at PNNL exploring next-generation HPC architectures, including the Center for Advanced Technology Evaluation (CENATE) project aimed at assessing the impact of emerging technologies and architectures on future HPC deployments. Kevin’s work in developing application-specific modeling techniques has driven the design of future systems, provided insight into the performance behavior of full-scale workloads, and identified critical algorithmic elements leading to improved large-scale behavior. Kevin received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the College of William and Mary in 2004.
