Dr. Amanda J. Minnich is a Machine Learning Research Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). At LLNL she is part of the multi-institution ATOM Consortium, where she applies Machine Learning techniques to biological data to accelerate drug discovery. Dr. Minnich received a BA in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley and an MS and PhD with Distinction in Computer Science from the University of New Mexico. While at UNM she was named an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, a Programs in Interdisciplinary Biological and Biomedical Sciences Fellow, and a Grace Hopper Scholar. She served on Program Committees for top data mining conferences including WWW, ASONAM, KDD, ICDM, and ICWE. Dr. Minnich has a passion for advocating for women in tech, co-founding and serving as President of UNM’s first chartered Women in Computing group and she will be co-chairing the Artificial Intelligence track at Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing 2019.
