Everyone involved did an amazing job. We are grateful for their care and attention. Their professionalism allowed us to focus on our work and not worry about our son. Thanks! I felt much more comfortable at this conference because my child was on-site. – SC Survey Respondent

Registration for Children

All children (of any age) must be registered at the Assisted Registration Desk in the registration area. This information is needed in the event of an emergency or if a child needs to be reunited with a parent.

All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, teacher, or adult who has undergone a background check. For full information see the IEEE Activities with Children policy.

Access policies differ according to the age of the child and the particular conference venue involved.

Child Access to Exhibits

To keep family members safe and comply with our insurance, child access to the Exhibits Hall is restricted based on age:

  • Only children 16 years of age or older are allowed in the Exhibits Hall during installation, dismantling, or outside of Exhibits hours.
  • Children ages 12–16 are allowed in the Exhibits Hall during regular hours, provided they have their own Exhibits Hall Only pass. Each child must wear (gets to wear!) a badge and must be accompanied by a registered adult at all times.
  • During the Family Day session (Wednesday, 4–6 pm), parents and children of all ages are invited to walk through the Exhibits Hall. No additional fee is required, though all family members must register at the Assisted Registration Desk in the registration area (Lobby F) and obtain a wristband.

Child Access to Sessions

Children 6 months and under may be brought into all conference sessions. If the child begins to fuss or becomes a distraction to other attendees, the parent should step out to address the needs of the child. Reentry will be permitted once the disruption is resolved.

For children 6 months and older, on-site child care is available with a licensed vendor, for a nominal fee.

Child Access to the Technical Program Reception

Minor children may accompany parents into the Thursday night Technical Program Reception at no charge. Minor children must be registered for the conference at the Assisted Registration Desk located in the registration area (Lobby F). Parents are responsible for the conduct and behavior of their children at all times during the reception.

Parents Room

Sometimes you just need a quiet place to be with your child. At the convention center, we will have a Parents Room with private feeding areas, refrigerators, changing tables, lockers to store your personal items, and plush chairs. We hope this room provides you a comfortable place to spend time with your child while you are away from home.

The Parents Room is intended for parents with infants. This will ensure peace and quiet for parents caring for their babies.
